Holiday Leather Clutch | Charmed By Ashley

Holiday Leather Clutch

Hey! Welcome to day 8! of 12 days of Christmas  tutorials, today i made a super cute leather clutch made from an upcycled jacket

Materials

Leather, vegan leather, cork  leather or a non stretch fabric

8″ Zipper

Cotton fabric for lining

If using a upcycled jacket  plan out  your pieces, i  find sleeves and back portion give good chunks of leather

Measurements

Outer pieces – Cut 2 – 10″x6.5″

Inner – Cut 2 – 10″ x  6.5″

Bow center – 3″ x 4″

Zipper tab piece 3″ x 3″

Bow piece – 11″ x 5″ (cut two if using a fabric that frays)

step 1 : Fold edge of tab piece down quarter of an inch, place folded edge against metal stopper, place second tab piece in same way on other end of zipper

Step 2: Take bow centre piece fold in  side seams and sew down each side,  fold in half inside out and sew down short side to create loop

Step 3: make a zipper sandwich, zipper pull facing outer fabric, line up raw edges and sew beside zipper teeth

Step 4: repeat last step with remaining pieces

step5:  top stitch along the zipper teeth

step 6: place bow centre around bow piece

Step 7: place right sides of  outer fabric and lining together,  sew all the way around leaving a 5″ gap in  lining

flip right sides out and sew hole in lining
