Pocket inserts are designed to go into a Traveler’s notebook to create extra storage for change, cards, or a pen. This a Free pattern which will be provided over at Craftsy.com in PDF form but you can get all the information on the post as well
If you wish to print out the pattern to and cut it out i suggest going over to Craftsy
Here are the dimensions of this particular wallet, i used the flamingo and as a contrasting fabric Grey chevron
Fold the fabric in an accordion style to look like this, make sure all the raw edges are on the left side of the piece.
fold the 3″ piece in half and sew along the edge, flip it and press
this is your pen loop
with the main fabric facing up lay the zipper zip side down on the right edge, lay your lining fabric ontop right sides down
Sew a 1/4″ seam allowance (dont get too close to the zipper just yet)
Flip the piece right sides up and then push the main fabric towards the teeth and sew 1mm away from the zipper teeth
*By pushing the fabric to the teeth you give it a cleaner look as well as not effecting the dimension of the finished product
Do the same thing on the opposite side of the zipper with the remaining fabrics, line up the edges with the zipper making sure the right sides are facing each other
Sew along the edge and then flip right sides out and top stitch 1mm away from the zipper teeth
If you like this pattern but wish for a larger size check out my A5 pattern here!
This is how it should look, now its time to place the card slots onto the left side
place the piece with right sides together and the zipper in the middle, flip back the top fabric to place the card slots in and pin the pen look in the appropriate spot
Flip the fabric back over and then sew all the way around leaving a 3″ gap at the bottom of the zipper pouch for turning
When sewing over the zipper be sure to unzip the zip inside the bag, try to open the bag half way as you will need this part to be open to flip the entire wallet right sides out
when you go over the zipper fold it in half with the raw edges lined up, this will make the zipper look nice and neat once finished
flip the back right sides out and then sew up the gap of the zipper pouch with a top stitch and then your finished!
Very easy and ready to be place inside a Traveler’s notebook
