What is bullet journaling?
A bullet journal is a customization and forgiving organization system, it can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, diary, calendar, and over all life tracker.
What do i need to get started?
First i would suggest finding a notebook you love, there are many notebooks designed for the bullet journaler in mind but at the end of the day any notebook that you love will do just fine
weather its lined paper, grid paper, dotted or blank these all are totally up to your own preference and dont add or take away the end result.
I will include a list of popular notebooks on the market today, the one i love to use is the Leuttreum1917
Once you have found the book of your dreams now you will need to find the tools, if you have a pen or felt tip marker that you love test it on the last page to see if it goes through your pages, the last thing you want is to start a page spread the discover your pen has bled through to the other side rendering the other side useless
I found these great pens from U-Brand that are bleed resistant from homesense and i only wish i could find them again here in Canada

Different tools such as rulers, protractors, erasers, pencils, sharpeners are great to have on hand, i like to map out my spreads with pencil and then retrace with a black felt tip pen
From here you can of course add decorative touches, if you are a minimalist then you can of course stop there but if you are looking at this as a life tracker/creative outlet then you can add some personality with Decorative washi tape, Water Colour, Markers, stickers, stamping and so many other things

plan out your first few pages, start off with a Title page
this can be very overwhelming to start and a bullet journal wont be made in a day just like Rome, even if you start planning for the month of February but work on making the journal in January so you are ready to go on the 1st of the month.
your first journal might not be everything you want it to be as its a work in progress, don’t get discouraged and write down all the things you like and disliked so next month or year when you buy your new journal you will have exactly the way it worked best for you
The great thing about this is its can be a journal of your life and you can collect these books over the year to have to look back at memories and moments in time.
